I don't think the presence of a competitive BPO environment will trigger an increase in the basic salary of employees of those companies. Siguro sa mga perks makompetensyah anay sila pero sa basic salary daw malabo.

basi... but still hopefully ma increase ang basic kay based on experience especially with teletech gapataas sila basic once my damu kompetensya... and at least makabulig gid ni sa mga ilonggos kay tama gid kanubo ang offer sa basic diri... yes allowances, and night differential helps as well but it's always better to have higher basic pay, especially the fact na ilonggos are highly competitive when it comes to effective english communication. This is really exciting. Don't worry we will have more BPO companies to come in.

BPOs excited over future IT Park in Iloilo City

November 14, 2008 2:44 pm by pna

ILOILO CITY, Nov. 14 - Business process outsourcing (BPO) companies are very excited over the prospect that an Information Technology (IT) Park will soon rise in the midst of the city.

Iloilo Business Club executive director Leah Lara said BPOs are very excited with developments on the Megaworld's multi-billion Iloilo Business Park at the old airport site in Mandurriao district.

The 54-hectare old lot may be the future site of all call center companies in the city, Lara hinted.

She also said that the city has to hasten works on turning city buildings into a Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) accredited areas.

Such a tag attracts call center companies all over the world, since PEZA sealed companies enjoy tax holidays and business incentives.

She also pointed out that the city may capitalize at its large manpower from the more 42 colleges and universities sprawling within the city.

These 20,000 yearly BPO potentials means more income for the city, Lara said.

Fanning the fire for more BPO prospects, City Mayor Jerry Trenas also revealed that the Ayala Group of Companies also plans to construct a four-storey IT park in Barangay San Rafael in Mandurriao.

Trenas said the property developers wanted to purchase a two-hectare lot in the area wherein they could construct possible buildings suited for the call center business.

He said the city remains attractive to BPO investors due to its location, competitive manpower, low cost of living and language proficiency.

Iloilo City ranks third among cities that are conducive for the BPO business in the country.

Laguna and Cavite notch the first and second rank, followed by Davao, Bacolod, Angeles-Clark-Mabalacat, Baliuag-Marilao-Meycauayan, Cagayan de Oro, Malolos-Calumpit and Lipa City. (PNA)

maybe yes not based on competition but as far as experience is concern its one of the many factors affecting the salary... and yes that's true ang mga tawo man lang ang gapangita sang daku nga salary and i think it's normal 'cause we all need better compensation especially for those who are supporting their family/lies.   Smiley
