We should not easily give up our "sovereignty" to them... for the shallow reason that they have an economic edge over us..

Let's not make ourselves be too ethnocentric and overprotective . Ironically, though, not all Filipinos know what is there to protect.  Grin But then, we do base how we react with the experiences we have with other people.

Yeah, We are too fragmented as a NATION. How can we become a true nation if your average Filipino doesnt even care whats happening outside of Metro Manila. Your normal Filipino doesnt give a S#$T about Philippine Geography. I even get question like "Oh your Ilonggo right? So do you still go home to Ilocos?"  Grin . Tagalog is our National Language but 3/4 of the country have their own local language. We Have a couple of National monuments that we defile from time to time with our garbage and graffiti. Sope? Who is the real Filipino? All this talk about Philippine Nationalism comes out empty. Unless they consider us Visayas and Mindanao as part of the country. Nothings ever going to happen.

For now, the Philippine Economy survives on Tourism ,OFW remittances, BPOs? and our meager export of Copra or Tuna maybe. We Ilonggos are still proud. Even after a hundreds years. Iloilos economic power may have diminished but we are still thriving as a city. I can still say that I am a proud Ilonggo and I wont allow some Korean to take that away from me
